HEAR ME OUT: CYBA WEBINAR

WHAT INSPIRES THE CY BLACK ALLIANCE?

As a Black high school student in Toronto, I’ve experienced some adversities and unfortunate events within my school and personal life. I was once a student struggling with mental health issues which caused me to miss many of my school days. I later eventually decided to switch schools as a second chance to begin attending. In my grade 11 year I was granted the opportunity to do my co-operative education within the leadership department at my school board. The different experiences and life skills that I gained from the leadership program completely changed my perspective on school, work, and my personal life. This led to my vision of introducing leadership to more Black students. I want to encourage and support more students who went through the same experiences as I did and for them to not only stay in school but graduate successfully. My goal is to see more of my Black brothers and sisters within leadership programs.

CYBA continues to be a platform that helps provide students with the knowledge and skills of becoming a leader, as being a leader played a big role in my success throughout high school.
